Resto bar in Cebu closed for holding Sinulog party

A resto bar in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu was closed after the video showed a group of young people without face masks and face shields partying at the Sinulog festival.

In a report by Lou-Anne Mae Rondina on GMA News TV “Balitanghali” on Thursday, it can be seen in the video taken on January 17 that young people are drinking and dancing as if they don’t care about the pandemic.

As a result, the Lapu-Lapu City authorities sent a cease and desist order to the resto bar.

“It’s a blatant violation of the health protocols established by the city. Na-issue na ‘yung cease and desist, which is akin to a closure order,” said Atty. James Sayson, Asst. City Attorney of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

After the incident, authorities will conduct a random inspection of businesses in the city to determine if they are following health protocols.

The resto bar was not named, which has not yet given a statement.

Barangay captains also met for strict enforcement of quarantine protocols in their respective jurisdictions.

The city is also considering a proposal to ban the business “leisure” category due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.

A group was also instructed to review the health protocols implemented in the locators of the Mactan Export Processing Zone (MEPZ).

Meanwhile, Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores has instructed all hotels in the island resort to have their own quarantine facility for their guests and employees.

The move was ordered after three tourists who entered the island tested positive for COVID-19 using fake RT PCR test results.

The Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) are currently working with the local government of the Malay government on how to solve the problem of the entry of tourists who fake the results of the RT PCR test.

The DOH stated that it has posted on their website where legitimate clinics can be found to get the RT PRC test.

The DOT also called on tourists to avoid using fake test results.
