However, during primary inspection, the immigration officer noted several inconsistencies, prompting him to refer the victim for secondary inspection.

Ana claimed that she is merely traveling to Hong Kong for a four-day vacation, but was unable to provide basic details of said trip.

Upon further interview, it was revealed that she holds a valid Qatar work e-visa. She later admitted that she was instructed by her recruiter to depart as a tourist, and wait for her work visa to be given to her in Hong Kong.

She was promised work as a promotion specialist, but has yet to receive her contract. She shared that she was also instructed by her recruiter to delete all documents sent to her.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco stated that they have forwarded the case to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking for investigation and filing of cases against Ana’s recruiter.

According to Vonne Aquino’s exclusive report on 24 Oras Weekend, CCTV at the NAIA Terminal 2 departure area on September 13 captured the security screening officer opening a passenger’s luggage.

He took two packages from the luggage and placed them in an airport bin. He dropped it on the floor, covered it with another bin, and set it aside.

According to the OTS, the screening officer violated RA 6713, or Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

On Friday, the OTS investigation concluded and the screening officer, who had only been hired as job order personnel in April, was immediately fired.

The screening officer said he took the chocolate the passenger allegedly gave him.

“But we will have to confirm kung talagang tsokolate…meron ding angle na tinitingnan ang ating mga imbestigador na baka posibleng kaya merong ganun dahil baka may pinalusot itong mga screening officer namin,” said Aplasca.
