Due to the increase in COVID 19 cases, some areas in Quezon City have again been subjected to special concern lockdown recently.
According to information from the city’s local government, the number of locked-down areas has risen to 24 after the following fall into the said classification starting this August:
A compound in Cordillera Street, Barangay Doña Aurora;
A place at Bagong Buhay St, Barangay Santo Niño; at
A compound in Barangay Kaligayahan.
The lockdown will last 14 days in each area.
The special concern lockdown only covers a specific area and not the entire barangay.
All affected residents will be given food packs and essential kits while locked down, and they will also undergo swab testing.
On July 22, the LGU began again implementing a special concern lockdown to prevent the rise of COVID-19 cases.
According to the latest QC epidemiology and surveillance unit record, there are 3,222 active cases in the city, after an increase of 150 active cases on Tuesday.
Vaccination will continue in the city where more than 1.5 million have been vaccinated.
Quezon City limits products residents can buy
Meanwhile, to prevent excessive shopping by residents in stores before the strictest lockdown in Metro Manila will be implemented on Friday, Quezon City will limit what can be bought in the markets.
It will be recalled that the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will be implemented in the National Capital Region (NCR) from August 6 to 20 due to the kick-off of COVID-19 cases and the increase in cases of its more contagious Delta variant.
Here is the limit to be imposed per person who buys daily necessities, under Ordinance No. SP-2948 S-2020:
- sardines, per brand (5)
- other canned goods such as meatloaf or corned beef, per brand (10)
The mayor assured that the food supply in Quezon City would be sufficient while the delivery of goods under the ECQ will not be restricted.
The directive will take effect at midnight Friday, in conjunction with the return of 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. and curfew.
