QC LGU warns against buying lechon online

The Quezon City Veterinary Office reminds people to be careful when buying lechon online.

This coincides with the increase in the number of complaints they receive about the allegedly rotten lechon.

Minsan may uod, minsan kulu-kulobot na yung karne, mabaho, maitim,” said QC Veterinarian Dr. Ana Marie Cabel.

Meanwhile, there was another increase in the price of lechon a few days before the New Year.

Last week, the 4 to 5-kilo lechon was at P8,500 from P7,500 to P8,000. The price of 6 to 7 kilograms of lechon was P9,000 from P8,500 the previous week.

The price of a lechon of 8 to 9 kilograms is P9,500 from P9,000, while the price of 10 to 11 kilograms of lechon is P10,500 from P10,000 last week.

La Loma Lechoneros Association President Ramon Ferreros explained that this is due to the lack of supply and the high price of pork.

There was also an increase in the price of pork and some kinds of fish. Authorities are monitoring it in the face of the threat of typhoon Odette.

“Naayos na po ang ating mga port na ginagamit para sa ating tawid-dagat kaya we are looking at more supply coming to Metro Manila coming from Visayas and Mindanao,” she added.
