NAIA name change timely

It is time to correct and change the name of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the country’s national airport.

This was announced yesterday by Deputy Speaker and 3rd District Negros Oriental Rep. Arnie Teves. He will file a bill at the opening of the 19th Congress to correct the name of the NAIA, formerly Manila International Airport (MIA).

Duterte Youth Partylist Group Rep. Ducielle Marie Cardema previously pushed to restore the NAIA to its former name MIA based on its filed House Bill 10833.

The airport is named after Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., who was assassinated at the airport on 21 August 1983. It is managed by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), an attached agency of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
