Prosecutor shot dead in Manila

Police reported a prosecutor was shot dead in Paco, Manila on Tuesday morning.

According to the initial information from the Ermita Police Station 5, the victim was identified as 62-year-old Jovencio Senados. He is the chief inquest at the Manila Regional Trial Court.

Police said the shooting occurred along Quirino Highway corner Anakbayan in Barangay 686.
Isa Avendaño-Umali reported on Dobol B sa News TV that police already launched a pursuit operation to arrest the suspects who were on board a black SUV with plate number 8133A.

The motive of the crime is also being investigated, police said.

“Under investigation pa kung ano ang motibo ng suspect,” Caramoan said in the radio report.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle was last seen going westbound on Quirino Avenue toward Roxas Boulevard.

Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said he had ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to probe the incident.

“We are shocked by the audacity of this attack. It highlights once again the grave peril that our prosecutors face each day in the discharge of their duties,” Guevarra told reporters.

Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento condemned the killing and said all resources of the Department of Justice would be utilized to give justice for Senados’ death.

Driver arrested for P108k worth of illegal drugs, gun

A 48-year-old driver was arrested after police recovered illegal drugs and a gun from him in a checkpoint at Rogan St. at Maharlika Avenue, Brgy. Maharlika, Taguig City, Sunday night.

The suspect Victoriano Amesola would undergo inquest proceedings at Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 ) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition).

According to the report of Taguig City Police Sub-Station 2, the group of P/Captain Joseph Inomis caught the suspect carrying a handgun at the checkpoint. They conducted a body search on the suspect where they discovered the plastic sachet of shabu.

Police seized 15.89 grams of suspected shabu worth P108,052 and a .45 caliber pistol Colt MK IV series 80 from the suspect.
