Progressive groups support COA’s report on DOH

Some progressive groups support the Commission On Audit’s release regarding funding allocated to the DOH. They said it is really needed as a check and balance within the government.

Kaya nga may COA,” said Renato Reyes Jr., secretary-general of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, Tuesday.

He said it is not right for President Rodrigo Duterte to acquit the DOH while the process is not over immediately. The Bayan Muna party-list and Kilusang Mayo Uno made the same statement today in separate statements.

As it is, mukhang joke lang din yata ang anti-corruption drive ng Duterte administration,” he added.

On Monday night, President Rodrigo Duterte slammed the Commission on Audit (COA) for flagging the “deficiencies” of the P67.3 billion fund set aside for the response, even though it was just doing its job, some groups said.

Deficiencies in… in producing the necessary documents to complete the story. Imposible magnakaw ka ng 67.3 [bilyon],”

“[W]hat needs to be done further to complete the papers… Many government worker na who were placed in a bad light because paglabas nitong COA audit ilagay itong mga deficiencies kagay nitong 67.3 [bilyon], mga gano’n, ang labas niyan sa mga tao akala nawala. Nandiyan ‘yung pera,” Duterte said.
