Probe on ‘cocaine user’ continues – PNP

The PNP’s investigation into the issue of the ‘cocaine user’ continues even though the presidential aspirants are volunteering for the drug test.

According to PNP chief, Gen Dionardo Carlos, they will only document the result of the drug test which will serve as an example to the public.

He said they need to investigate the allegation linking a candidate to illegal drugs.

The PNP chief added that they support the drug test even though it is not mandatory for candidates. He said the Forensic Group is ready for those who want to undergo a drug test.

It will be recalled that President Duterte revealed that a presidential aspirant uses ‘cocaine’. The President did not name the presidential candidate.

The tandem of Senator Ping Lacson and Tito Sotto first underwent a drug test and tested negative.

Yesterday, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno also wrote to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regarding its readiness to undergo a drug test. In his letter to PDEA Moreno said he had never tasted cocaine, shabu, and ecstasy.

On Monday, former Senator Bongbong Marcos announced that he underwent drug testing at a private hospital and the result was negative.

Marcos’ camp handed over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the Philippine National Police the allegedly negative result of his drug test conducted by the hospital in Taguig City.

“I don’t feel that I am the one being alluded to. In spite of that, I believe it is my inherent duty as an aspiring public official to assure my fellow Filipinos that I am against illegal drugs,” said Bongbong Marcos.

Bongbong Marcos insisted that he was not hit by Duterte’s blind item.

Meanwhile, presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and his running mate, Dr. Willie Ong also underwent drug tests on Thursday morning.

The drug test was conducted at the national headquarters of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Quezon City.

Last week,  said a presidential aspirant in the 2022 elections was using cocaine.

“There is even a presidential candidate na nag-cocaine. May kandidato tayo na nagko-cocaine ‘yan. ‘Yung  ng mayaman. Kaya nga nagtataka ako. Anong nagawa ng tao na yan?” according to the president with no name mentioned.
