Personnel from the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) were conducting an anti-colorum operation on Commonwealth Avenue when they saw such modern jeepneys illegally plying in the area so they were apprehended.

It is learned that apart from not having permission to drive, the conductor of a modern jeep was not wearing a face mask

According to authorities, these modern jeeps already have provisional authority for the route.

However, they still could not travel because they still had to apply for the QR code placed on the vehicle. The QR code will confirm that their route has been approved.

A driver allegedly argued that he did not know that he still needed the QR code to travel.

The authorities impounded the vehicles, and its operator was required to pay P50,000 to redeem each modern jeep.

So far, they say, only buses are allowed to pass on Commonwealth Avenue.
