As the election season draws to a close, presumptive Vice President Sara Duterte called for a stop to politicking on Friday.
During the Inday Sara Duterte Online Thanksgiving, Duterte emphasized that elected officials should take the lead in ensuring that all Filipinos, even those who did not vote for him, receive genuine public service.
“Dahil tapos na ang kampanya at eleksyon, panahon na para kalimutan ang mga kulay ng pagkakahiwa-hiwalay. Tapusin na natin ang pamumulitika. Dapat lamang na ang lahat ng mga nahalal sa pwesto ay manguna sa pagsiguro na lahat ng mga Pilipino — supporters man o hindi — ay mabigyan ng tamang serbisyo,” she said.
(With the campaign and elections over, it’s time to forget division’s colors. Let’s end politicking. All those elected to office must take the lead in ensuring that all Filipinos-whether supporters or not. no – will be given the right service.)
Throughout the campaign, Sara Duterte pushed the public to eliminate the multiple “colors” of politics.
“Noong kampanya sinabi ko na pagkatapos na eleksyon ay kailangan nating kalimutan ang mga kulay na naging palatandaan ng ating pulitika. Ang mga kulay na ito ay naging mukha ng mainit na away ng mga supporters,” she said.
(During the campaign, I said that we have to forget the colors that have been the hallmark of our politics after the election. But, unfortunately, these colors have become the face of the hot fight of the supporters.)
Presumptive VP Sara Duterte calls for unity
The mayor of Davao City urged her supporters to extend their hands to other candidates’ supporters.
“Tayo na po ang mauna na lumapit sa mga nakatunggali na supporters ng mga natalong kandidato. Tayo na po ang magpakumbaba dahil tayo ang panalo. Tayo ang Sana all, tayo ang Sara All. We have to be magnanimous because we are only 31.5M. Kailangan natin sila para tayo ay maging isang 100% na bansa,” Duterte said.
(We will be the first to approach the competing supporters of the defeated candidates. We will be the ones to humble ourselves because we are the winner. We are the Sana all, we are the Sara All. We have to be magnanimous because we are only 31.5M. We need them for us to be a 100% nation.)
Meanwhile, Sara Duterte thanked all the volunteers and parallel groups who supported and assisted her candidacy. She also expressed gratitude for their support of her intention to run for vice president.
