Pregnant woman included in missing sabungeros

Up to 26 sabungeros or cockfight bettors are now missing after they went to various cockpits, according to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). Among those missing was a pregnant woman.

In a report by Emil Sumangil on GMA News “24 Oras” on Monday, it was said that Jonnalyn Lubgin, 22, who is four months pregnant, was added to the list.

Lubgin disappeared on Jan. 7 after going with her boyfriend Nomer de Pano, 30, to a cockpit in Laguna.

According to Laguna police chief Lieutenant Colonel Paterno Domondon, no case has been filed yet in connection with the couple’s disappearance, and they are still investigating.

“Matapos pong makunan ng salaysay, napag-usapan namin ng mga imbestigador, eh medyo kulang pa po ‘yung mga ebidensiyang hawak namin para mag-file ng kahit anong kaso po. In-explain namin, naintindihan naman po nila,” said Domondon.

(After the statement was taken, we talked to the investigators. We don’t have enough evidence to file any case. We explained, and they understood.)

But Domondon suspects that the incident may have been related to “game-fixing.”

“In-admit naman ng isa sa relatives ng mga nawawala na talagang napapansin ng kasama nila may pinapakain sa manok. Yan po yung iniimbestigahan natin, yung tsope na sinasabi po nila, yung sa game fixing,” said Domondon.

(One of the missing relatives admitted that his companion actually noticed that something was being fed to the gamecocks. So that’s what we’re investigating, the “tsope” that they’re saying in game-fixing.)

Domondon is also cooperating with the CIDG, which has been tasked to investigate the case of the missing cockfight bettors, which are now 26.

This morning, some relatives of the alleged 30 missing sabungeros tried to go to Malacañang to ask President Rodrigo Duterte to help them find their loved ones.

But they were not allowed to pass through Mendiola because they did not have a permit to hold a rally.

Relatives of the missing sabungeros complained that the case of their missing loved ones is not progressing.
