Police suspect in Nadia Casar kidnap-slay case surrenders

The 6th suspect in the murder of Nadia Casar, an online seller, has surrendered to the authorities a few hours before the deadline set on Thursday in Cabanatuan City.

Police Regional Office-3 (PRO-3) identified the suspect as Police Senior Master Sergeant Rowen Martin, 41, assigned to the Cabanatuan City Police Station and a resident of San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

He surrendered himself at the Cabanatuan City Police Station in Nueva Ecija and surrendered his service firearm Glock-17 with a magazine and 12 bullets.

This Sunday, Casar’s burnt body was found in Sitio Pinagpala, Barangay Imelda Valley, Palayan City in Nueva Ecija.

According to Police Brig. Gen. Val De Leon, regional director at PRO-3, will punish the suspects according to the law, even if they are members of the police.

“We are stern in our implementation of our internal cleansing,” he added.

Martin was allegedly among the 5 policemen who abducted and killed the online seller of jewelry, Casar.

Based on the statement of Grab driver “Mark,” Nadia Casar allegedly delivered something on July 20 to Franklin Macapagal in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija.

They also left immediately after the transaction, but they were stopped by five armed men aboard a pick-up and two motorcycles while traveling.

Armed men then alighted and kidnapped Nadia Casar and the Grab driver and were taken to a safehouse in Palayan City.

The Grab driver told the police that he overheard one of the suspects ordering the victim to ask her family for a huge amount of  in exchange for her release.

The driver was later released the following day while the victim’s relatives sought the assistance of the AKG.

He then reported the incident to the Sta. Rosa Municipal Police Station in Nueva Ecija, where he saw a group photo of the police officers involved in the crime.

Authorities later found the remains of the burned Nadia Casar at Sitio Pinagpala, Brgy. Imelda Valley, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.

The PNP identified the following  officers who are linked to the  and  of victim Nadia Casar:

  • Police Staff Sergeant Benedict Matias Reyes of Sta. Rosa Municipal Police Station
  • Police Staff Sergeant June Malillin of Palayan City Police Station
  • Police Corporal Julius Alcantara of Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit
  • Police Master Sergeant Rowen Martin of Cabanatuan City Police Station
  • Police Staff Sergeant Drextemir Esmundo of Cabiao Municipal Police Station
