PNP mulls studying anger management of cops

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it could be studying their police officers’ anger management following the shooting incident that killed a mother and her sin in Paniqui, Tarlac, over the weekend.

According to PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas, Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca seemed “okay” but could not control his anger and shot dead 52-year-old Sonya Gregorio and her 25-year-old son Frank Anthony Gregorio.

“I think when I discuss it with our neuropsychiatrist, we might have also a new study also on anger management of our people kasi kumbaga okay naman siguro siya kasi sa Crime Lab siya na-assign (maybe he was okay because he was assigned at Crime Lab),” the PNP chief said in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

“He was assigned in Crime Lab and he is on not on the [field], kumbaga sa support aspect siya. Siguro hindi niya namanage ‘yung anger niya kaya niya nagawa iyon,” he added.

The PNP chief said he was angered and saddened that a police officer who was supposed to serve and protect the people have committed such a brutal crime.

“When I saw the video, of course [I was] angry and saddened that our policeman has committed such a crime,” he said when asked for his reaction on the incident.

“Of course, as a commander, we are very angry and saddened that’s why I issued a directive to our unit commanders to please remind our people to hold their anger in any situation para hindi mangyari ang same incident (so that similar incidents will not happen again),” he added.

Nuezca confronted Frank Gregorio over complaints of firing a “boga” or an improvised firecracker. The argument escalated, as seen in the viral video.

The police officer wanted to arrest Frank, but his mother Sonya would not let go of him. Nuezca’s daughter then shouted at Sonya, telling her to shut up and said, “My father is a policeman.”

Sonia then answered back sarcastically and said, “I don’t care eh-eh-eh,” mocking her through a Korean song “I Don’t Care.”

Nuezca snapped and then said, “P****g i** ka! Gusto mo tapusin na kita ngayon? (You son of a b***! You want me to finish you now?) and without a word shot the mother in the head, then her son.
