PNoy dies of renal disease secondary to diabetes: Pinky

Pinky Aquino-Abellada announced the cause of death of her brother, former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, also known as PNoy, on Thursday.

Pinky told reporters at Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig that it was 6:30 am earlier when her brother was declared dead.

Renal disease secondary to diabetes is said to be the cause of the former president’s death.

“He died peacefully in his sleep,” she said.

According to Pinky, even before the pandemic broke out, PNoy has been in and out of the hospital.

They apologized that they did not immediately inform the public of what happened to the former president due to the health protocols being implemented even at the hospital.

At the same time, they thanked the people who trusted and supported the former president from being a congressman in Tarlac and senator.

Initial reports said Aquino was brought to Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City early Thursday.

Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III[ also known as “PNoy” or “Noynoy,” was a Filipino politician who served as the 15th president of the Philippines from 2010 until 2016. Aquino was a fourth-generation politician and was the chairman of the Liberal Party from 2010 to 2016.

On September 9, 2009, shortly after the death of his mother, Aquino officially announced that he would be a candidate in the 2010 presidential election. He was elected and, on June 30, 2010, was sworn into office as the fifteenth President of the Philippines at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, Manila, succeeding Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He ended his term on June 30, 2016, succeeded by Rodrigo .

Vice President  on Thursday said the death of PNoy is heartbreaking.

“Nakakadurog ng puso ang balitang wala na si PNoy. Mabuti siyang kaibigan at tapat na Pangulo [His death is heartbreaking. He is a good friend and an honest President],” Robredo said in a statement.

“Nakikiramay ako sa kanyang pamilya [I mourn with his family],” she added.

Former Vice President Jejomar Binay also mourned the death of PNoy.

“Noynoy and I may have had political differences during the last few years of his term, but that will not diminish the many years of friendship between our families,” Binay said.
