South Korea-based Filipino actor Christian Lagahit shared one of his unforgettable moments as part of the popular series “Squid Game.”
On TeleRadyo’s “Sakto” program “this Friday, Lagahit recounted how he was inspired by the conversation he had with one of the stars of the series, Park Hae-soo, so that he could play his character as well. Player 276.
Lagahit’s character appeared in episode 4 of the series.
“Medyo awkward po ako ng first two days ko. Kasi ang alam ko lang po talaga ay three days lang ‘yung character ko. So nagulat lang po ako ng first two days, nandoon na, ‘yung na-starstruck ka. Parang hesitant ka to approach them, kasi bago ka sa set… But then sila na po mismo ‘yung lumalapit,” he said.
Christian Lagahit recalls, “Like si Park Hae-soo, na-notice niya ako na medyo awkward ako sa set kasi literal na parang dumidistansiya ako sa kanila. Sila na mismo ang nag-approach… Sinabihan niya ako na, ‘Don’t feel alone, you are part of this team. Don’t think of your role as a small role.'”

“Noong sinabi niya ‘yung mga katagang ‘yon, parang doon ako na-energize, doon ako nagkaroon ng lakas ng loob na, ‘Okay, makiki- mingle ako sa kanila.’ And the rest was history.”
In the interview, Christian Lagahit admitted that Player 276 is not his target character.
He said he was then given the opportunity to audition for Ali’s character.
“To be honest, I was given the opportunity to audition for the role of Ali, which is played by my dear friend. Noong 2019, nagkaroon din po ako ng full-length drama, so napabilang ako as one of the cast. From there, siguro nakitaan nila ng potential,” he said.
“Then umuwi kasi ako ng 2020, so parang nagkaroon ng things to do with the schedules. So pagbalik ko ng Korea after my break sa Philippines, parang naibigay na ‘yung role sa iba. Then sabi ko, okay lang. Halfway ng last year, tumawag sa akin ang manager ko, parang sinasabi niya ‘yung production bibigyan ka ng special appearance o special role, then ‘yun na nga po ang Player 276,” the Squid Game actor said.
