The guest of honor was Senator Cynthia Villa, who thanked the PRC for its contribution to the country, especially during disasters and now there is a pandemic.

“Philippine Red Cross, in general, provides 6 major services: disaster management services, safety services, health, services, social services, Red Cross youth, and volunteer services,” said Villar.

According to PRC Chairman Senator Richard Dick Gordon, the PRC will continue to serve Filipinos in need even abroad.

One of the PRC’s contributions, especially now that there is a pandemic, is their molecular laboratory used for COVID-19 testing. As a result, the PRC has the highest number of swab test cases at 5.5 million.

There are 151,000 houses already built in the PRC throughout the Philippines.

But the PRC is still extending aid. One of the focuses is to have more blood banks for those in need of blood across the country.

Meanwhile, the PRC is thankful that they raised P7.5 million in the fundraising activity during the 75th-anniversary celebration.

According to Dr. Nona Ricafort, the overall chairman of the 75th PRC Diamond Jubilee, some compatriots and organizations in the PRC continue to assist, so they are also helping a lot.

“Red Cross is always ready, always there to uplift the dignity of the Filipino people and the needy and [help with] disaster mitigation,” she said.

There was also a cultural presentation where Red Cross members performed. Its theme is the colorful history, culture, and even religion of the Philippines.

The Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonialism gave rise to the establishment of the PRC in 1947. Initially, the organization was only involved in the provision of blood and short-term palliatives and participation in disaster-related activities; however, it currently focuses on a broader range of humanitarian services.

Current Philippine Red Cross services include National Blood Services, Disaster Management Services, Safety Services, Health Services, Welfare Services, and Red Cross Youth.
