PH Embassy issues travel requirements for Cambodia

The Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, reminded all Filipinos in the country regarding the latest policies for all foreign nationals before entering Cambodia, including the new quarantine measures.

In the new policy, according to the Embassy:

a. The traveler must present a health certification certified by a licensed health authority in the country of origin proving a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR swab test within 72 hours before the departure date.

b. The foreign national must have a valid Cambodian visa from the Royal Cambodian Embassies or Consulate of the traveler’s country of origin.

c. 2,000 USD or the equivalent of more than one hundred thousand pesos is required as a deposit to be spent for the 14-day quarantine period, medical examination fees for COVID-19, and fare for transportation from the airport to the hotel quarantine facilities

The foreign national has the option not to pay the said deposit, but he is directly responsible for all expenses if one of the four Alternative State Quarantine or ASQ decides to book. Visit this Embassy link for such four ASQs.

The Ministry of Health or MOH will assign the foreign traveler to the MOH-designated hotel if they do not book one of the four ASQs.

d. The foreign national must also have proof of health insurance with a minimum medical coverage of 50,000 USD or the equivalent of 2.5 million pesos for his total stay in Cambodia.

The foreign national must complete a 14-day quarantine mandate.

According to Fischer, there are about 7,000 Filipinos in this country. At least 80 percent are in Phnom Pehn and nearby provinces.

The Philippines and Cambodia have maintained cordial ties since the resumption of diplomatic relations in 1995.

Cambodia reports 543 new infections on average each day, 55% of the peak — the highest daily average reported on July 5.

There have been 87,190 infections and 1,730 coronavirus-related deaths reported in the country since the pandemic began.
