PDP-Laban Cusi faction endorses Marcos for presidency

The ruling administration party PDP-Laban co-founded by former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. – has formally endorsed the candidacy of former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the presidency.

This was announced by the PDP-Laban faction of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, President Rodrigo Duterte’s political party, in a Facebook live stream this Tuesday.

“[A] fter careful and exhaustive deliberations the National Executive Committee endorses the candidacy of Senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. for President of the Republic of the Philippines [in] the forthcoming 2022 National Elections,” according to the resolution signed by Cusi that dated 21st March.

“[H] e is the candidate whose vision of governance is most aligned with PDP-Laban’s 11-point agenda … to promote ‘Unity for Sustainability’ of socio-economic development and national progress.”

“We deeply appreciate the PDP-Laban’s kind endorsement of presidential frontrunner Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.,” Marcos spokesman Vic Rodriguez said earlier.

“The trust it placed in him inspires us beyond measure, for it signals that our message of national unity is gaining ground.”

Rodriguez said they are happy that PDP-Laban has joined the “bandwagon of support” in the BBM-Sara UniTeam, while watching the rumor that there will be fraud in the upcoming elections.

Although Marcos leads the Pulse Asia surveys, they admit they can’t be complacent, especially since “many forces” are working together to bring them down.

“Again, we thank PDP-Laban for joining the crescendoing chorus of national unification as we call on our supporters not to blink, not yet, for victory may only be claimed when votes have already been cast and every ballot counted on election day,” said BBM’s camp.

“Mabuhay and pagkakaisa! Sama-sama tayong babangong muli!”

Only now has the party named those they will support for the presidency even though it was only in March that they endorsed Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Marcos’ vice president under the UniTeam Alliance.

Duterte-Carpio is the daughter of Digong, who is rumored to have tension with Bongbong. It is widely suspected that BBM, the son of the dictator and former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was the presidential candidate whom Duterte used to call a “cocaine user,” “weak leader” etc.
