The beneficiaries of the program include left-out households who have not received any cash assistance from the national government under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP), expanded 4Ps, and the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Funding for the Paraña-Cash program came from the suspended construction of the P200 million astrodome project that is expected to be completed this year.

According to Mar Jimenez, head of the Public Information Office, eligible households will need to fill out an intake form that will be downloaded from the computer by an adult representative.

The applicant will attach the certification that he or anyone on his household has not yet received SAP or is not a targeted SAP beneficiary.

After a brief interview would take place before a grantee would be given a “Europay, Mastercard, and Visa” card (EMV) or a debit card with which the Paraña-cash pay-out will take place.

The EMV card will be named after the household’s designated representative.

“The distribution scheme may be carried out by house-to-house, sitio-by-sitio, or plaza type depending on population density and size of the area, with strict adherence to stringent social distancing measures, “ani Jimenez.

Makati Mayor Abigail “Abby Binay” also gave P5,000 cash aid to its 500,000 residents under the city’s “MAKA-tulong” program.

Unlike the national government’s Social Amelioration Program, the “MAKA-tulong” will still give P5,000 cash to 4Ps members, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWD). Informal workers, and solo parents, are also eligible to get financial assistance.

Pasig City also gave through the leadership of Mayor Vico Sotto, also covered residents who were not included in the national government’s SAP.

Department of Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista earlier announced the AFP and PNP would distribute the second tranche of SAP following reports of corruption involving local government officials.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported at least 405 officials of local government would face corruption charges related to the unusual distribution of cash aid from SAP.
