This is the sixth consecutive week there has been an increase in oil prices.

Within 6 weeks, the price of diesel reached P5.65 per liter, gasoline P4.10 and kerosene P5.30.

According to Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, the government can do nothing about the price of oil because its prices are based on the price in the global market.

Cusi-who is president of the ruling party PDP-Laban and leads a faction of it-also denied that he is focusing more on politics as oil prices continue to rise.

“Dito po sa [Department of Energy], kaniya-kaniya po kami ng responsibilidad. Sa’kin po policy, implementation, enforcement. May directors po tayong nagbabantay,” he said.
