P3M for PGH foundation raised at 50th birthday party of Sen. Angara

Senator Sonny Angara raised P3 million at his 50th birthday party last Saturday. The funds raised will go to the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation and help poor patients.

Among those who attended the celebration were President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., First Lady Lisa Araneta-Marcos, Speaker Martin Romualdez, and other fellow lawmakers.

“Big thanks to: my family for throwing me a 50th bday party with musical numbers from family and friends; thank you to my fellow senators led by SP Senator Migz Zubiri for their impromptu song number, with an epic surprise participation by a very game PBBM (thank you Mr. President Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, Speaker Romualdez) and a very nice song from the Senate spouses,” Angara said in his post on social media where he also thanked those who attended.

“Best part of the night is that we raised over PhP3 million for the PGH Foundation — our chosen beneficiary in lieu of gifts,” he added.

“[God bless] all of you for giving generously… you can help many poor patients,” said Angara who was re-appointed chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.

In the video posted on Facebook by Cavite Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla, wife of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Pres. Marcos with senators singing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin,” the theme song of the movie “Top Gun.”

Sen. Raffy Tulfo, on the other hand, defended the officials who attended the celebration from the comments, as many people are said to be troubled by the rising prices of goods.

“Well napaka-killjoy naman ‘yung mga nagsasabi niyan dapat inaalam din nila siguro ang reason kung bakit ano ba ang isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit kami nandon,” according to Tulfo who was among the senators who sang with the president.

“Una e tao lang naman kami, marunong din dapat kaming mag-relax ‘di ba. And then pangalawa, it was for a cause din from what I’ve heard nakapag-ipon ng 3 million pesos ‘yung party na ‘yon at ‘yung 3 million pesos na ‘yon ibibigay ‘yon sa PGH. So may naitulong ‘yung party na ‘yon hindi lang pagsasayaw-sayaw kundi for a good cause, charity,” he explained.
