Oxygen supply in Metro Manila enough

There is still no shortage of oxygen tank supply in Metro Manila despite the increase in COVID-19 cases possibly caused by the more infectious Delta variant.

“Kahit itong huling ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) marami namang dumating na oxygen tanks hanggang ngayong araw na ito hindi naman tayo nagkakaroon ng shortage pagdating sa tangke dito sa NCR,” said Adrien Alon-Alon, owner of Caremart Medical Supplies.

In an interview with TeleRadyo Thursday morning, Alon-Alon said that they are not raising the price despite a surge of COVID-19 cases.

“Kami, kahit may surge, hindi kami nagtataas ng price kasi hindi naman kinakapos ang demand,” he said.

He also asked others in such business not to take advantage.

“Wag tayong mag take advantage, tulong-tulong kasi hindi ito malulutas by overpricing, paano yung mga nangangailangan, they really badly need it na oxygen tatagain pa nila kawawa naman,” he said.

The importers are said to have prepared to ensure that there will be no shortage of oxygen cylinders.

“Pag dumating dito dadaan sa inspection, lahat yan nilalagyan ng sticker na registered sila ng DTI (Department of Trade and Industry), clear yung tangke nila, yung nagrerefill sa kanila documented para maiwasan ang substandard na tangke,” said Alon-Alon.

In recent days, many of their clients have been buying oxygen tanks and concentrators for Cebu.

“Mostly ng tumatawag sa amin sa Cebu nga po nagoorder ng machines kasi doon nalilimitahan ata ang stock,” he said.

Apart from the National Capital Region (NCR), its neighboring provinces should be monitored due to the continuous increase in  cases.

Experts are aware of the rapid increase in people getting the disease in NCR Plus, including Bulacan, Cavite, , and Rizal.

Bulacan and Cavite are said to have seen the fastest spread of the virus.

In fact, in just a few weeks,  in those two provinces more than doubled.

Of the 5 provinces that make up the Calabarzon , 4 have recorded cases of the more contagious Delta variant, the most in Laguna.
