Meanwhile, NCRPO chief Lt Gen Danao was disappointed with the use of police uniforms by syndicates to commit crimes.

The NCRPO’s investigation into the shootout revealed that the suspects were wearing police uniforms and equipment.

It is said that the sale of uniforms is very cheap and cannot be regulated by the PNP. However, the SLEX incident should have served as a reminder to traders of soldier and police uniforms.

“Maraming nagbebenta anywhere so siguro that is one way to remind these people especially those ’yung mga seller na mag-strikto sa pagbebenta ng mga uniporme,” said Danao.

And since the initial investigation by the PNP also revealed that the two who were killed in SLEX were former security guards, they are also trying to find out who the leader of the syndicate is and if there are real policemen and soldiers in their group.

He said that even if there were uniformed people in the group, they would not hesitate to enforce the law against them, even leading to an encounter.

“Sana lang walang maiinvolve na any member of the Philippine National Police or any other law enforcement agency. Why? Kasi hindi ako magdadalawang-isip na iimplement ’yung batas against sa kanila,” said Danao.

The first owner of the van was worried that after it was sold, the owner’s name might not have been changed in its registration, and they would still be involved in the investigation.

According to the lawyer of the former owner, Atty. Gabriel Ablola, the first owner, sold the van to a car dealer, and this car dealer immediately sold the van to a fellow car dealer and immediately sold it to a direct buyer.

“Naisip nu’ng client namin na baka sila ang puntahan ng investigating officer ng NCRPO dahil makikita sa LTO na sila ang tamang owner,” said Ablola.
