Over 10K to get second COVID booster shots on Monday

About 7,000 to 10,000 immunocompromised adults are expected to be vaccinated by the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday’s first day of injecting the second booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to DOH Undersecretary and National Vaccination Operations Center chair Myrna Cabotaje, an estimated 690,000 immunocompromised have already received the first booster.

So, 30 percent of 2.3 million is about 690,000. Tapos 1 percent of that, mga 7 [thousand] to 10,000,” Cabotaje said in an interview with ABS-CBN News this Sunday.

Only those aged 18 and over who are in an immunodeficiency state, with HIV, active cancer or malignancy, transplant recipients, undergoing steroid treatment, patients with poor prognosis or bed-ridden, and other conditions will be vaccinated initially phase of the rollout of the second booster shot.

It must have been three months since they were last vaccinated.

Healthcare workers and senior citizens are not yet included in the second booster vaccination, but they can receive an additional dose if they are also immunocompromised.

Meanwhile, DOH admitted that the house-to-house vaccination against COVID-19 was unsuccessful because few people were still vaccinated.

She said all areas across the country had house-to-house vaccinations, and there were special vaccination days in Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and the entire Region XII.
