Online sabong venue raided in Parañaque

Police found hundreds of people violating physical distancing guidelines inside a cockpit arena conducting online sabong in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque, on Saturday.

According to Police Col Max Sebastian, chief of the Parañaque City police, they received information that there was a mass gathering at the Roligon Mega Cockpit Arena on Quirino Avenue.

When police approached it from a nearby substation, they found an online sabong event there.

A studio was built inside the arena for the online sabong.

The 270 people who were caught inside and waiting to enter were not allowed to leave. This includes some traders and observers of the operation.

Police said the company owner that operates the online sabong did not show a proper permit, so it was stopped.

The owner told the police that the activity was just a dry run, and they had a permit from PAGCOR.

Cockfighting and other gambling are prohibited under Alert Level 4 unless authorized by the IATF or the Office of the President.

Official violation receipts were issued to those caught there and sent home as well.

According to Sebastian, the fine for violating health protocols in Parañaque has been increased: P1,000 for the first offense, P3,000 for the second offense, and P5,000 for the third offense.

QC conducts clean up operations in the creeks

Quezon City Riverwaste Clearing Operations Group personnel manually hauled the piles of garbage to various creeks in the city.

This is said to be the cause of flooding, especially in low-lying areas of the city.

During their extensive clearing operations, the RCOG toured five areas in Quezon City:

• Dario Creek- Mozart St., Brgy. Sauyo
• Dario Creek – Mindanao Ave. Brgy. Tandang Sora
• Pasong Tamo Creek – PRRC Linear Park Brgy. Bahay Toro
• Paltok Creek – Commonwealth Ave. Brgy. Commonwealth
• Bagbag Creek – Arty 1 St., Brgy. Talipapa

There is 20-22 RCOG personnel cleaning each creek, and they usually finish after half a day.

All the garbage they hauled was taken to a barge in the city of Manila.
