When the OFW man arrived, he stayed at a hotel in Makati City for 10 days of mandatory quarantine.

He was later transferred to a hotel in Manila from July 4 to July 11.

The patient reportedly recovered on July 11 and only felt an itchy throat.

“He experienced a slightly itchy throat on June 28 and was swabbed on June 30. He was considered recovered and was allowed to go home to his family on July 11,” the local government said.

The patient’s sequenced sample was only reported to the Epidemiology and Surveillance Disease Unit (CESU) of Quezon City last Sunday night.

CESU immediately conducted swab tests on him and his family members on Monday.

“He will undergo another swab test, along with his family, as part of our protocol even if he is considered a recovered patient. We are doing extensive contact tracing on his close contacts just to make sure,” said CESU head Dr. Rolly Cruz.

On the other hand, QC mayor Joy Belmonte assured his compatriots that the city is ready to take comprehensive measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.

“What is important is that we are intensifying testing and aggressive contact tracing,” the mayor said.

Meanwhile, the QC local government is also collaborating with another LGU about a construction worker who tested positive for the Delta variant.

It was found that the worker was working in QC but living in another city. The worker’s pregnant wife also tested positive for the virus.

“CESU has been conducting contact tracing and swabbing at his place of work since Saturday. There are no reported cases yet at his place of work, but we are doing this as a preventive measure to make sure we contain any possible transmission early,” said Cruz.
