During the investigation, the victim allegedly rode the zipline, where he finished his first ride without any glitches.

But on its second ride, his hand was allegedly removed from the zipline until he fell.

The safety net caught him, but it was punctured and torn, causing the victim to fall to the ground.

“Walang harness ‘yung zipline. May hinahawakan, naka-hang ka na mag-slide. Kapag binitawan mo ‘yun, pwedeng bumagsak ka dun sa pool o dun sa safety net,” said PSMS Ford Wassid, information officer of Tabuk Police.

(The zipline has no harness. So you’re hanging to slide. If you let go of that, you could fall into the pool or into the safety net.)

“Bumagsak siya sa safety net, pero napunit ‘yung safety net kaya diretso dun sa bandang semento na gilid ng pool,” he added.

The nurse was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor. The investigation is ongoing.

The province of Agusan del Sur will implement the “no vaccine card, no entry” policy to Agusan attendees and tourists in the activities of the 30th Naliyagan Festival in the province.

This is to protect residents against COVID-19.

At each entrance of the Naliyagan grounds, there are police officers who will check on people entering the area. After reviewing the vaccination card, the ID will be searched to check if the details match and do a temperature check.

According to the Provincial Health Office of Agusan del Sur, 68 percent are fully vaccinated in the province.

Gov. Santiago Cane Jr. admitted that this year’s activities at the Naliyagan Festival had not been full blast due to the future pandemic.
