Number of followers, engagements factors in vlogger Malacañang accreditation – Trixie Angeles

The number of followers and engagements in the probable accreditation of vloggers to cover Malacanang is now being considered by the incoming head of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), press secretary-designate Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles stated.

Cruz-Angeles stated that they are now analyzing the existing regulation on vlogger certification, which she claims began under the government of the now-defunct Duterte.

She can’t say yet if vloggers would be required to be accredited in the same way that reporters and media personnel covering Malacanang are.

“Ang ginagawa namin ngayon is to review that [policy], kung tama naman na this is the right time to include them in press briefings, how often, what are the qualifications and so on. Hindi pa natin masasabi nang tapos kung regular accreditation ito, similar doon sa mga nagcocover ng Malacañang events,” told Cruz-Angeles ABS CBN’s TeleRadyo.

For the time being, Cruz-Angeles said they are evaluating vloggers based on their amount of followers and engagements.

“Tinitingnan namin ‘yung engagements kasi engagements really means that people are responding to what you have written or shown at interesado sila at naiinvolve sila doon sa sinasabi,” the incoming PCOO chief said.

“Ngayon, ang kino-consider namin, both following and engagements kasi magkaiba ‘yan. You can have a following, but very few respond to your posts,” she added.

She explained that vloggers who want to be accredited must have at least 20,000 followers under the current rules.
