According to Duque, there will only be granular lockdowns, not nationwide lockdowns.

“Kung magkakaroon man, granular lockdown na lamang. Tapos na tayo sa mga widespread lockdown,” he said.

Suppose minimal public health standards (MPHS) are not followed. In that case, the Philippines might see another increase in COVID-19 infections by mid-May, with Metro Manila potentially registering over half a million active cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

According to the report, a 50% drop in compliance with minimum public health requirements in Metro Manila by mid-May could result in 25,000 to 60,000 new COVID-19 cases every day.

Meanwhile, according to the DOH, a 20% decline in MPHS compliance countrywide might result in roughly 34,788 current COVID-19 cases. A 30% decrease in MPHS compliance could result in as many as 300,000 instances during the same period.

No national lockdown after Eleksyon 2022 – DOH

Despite forecasting a rise in COVID-19 infections from 50,000 to 100,000 active cases soon, the OCTA Research group said Tuesday that it did not suggest reimposing lockdowns.

The DOH reported 184 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, increasing the total number of cases in the country to 3,685,403.

The latest DOH data showed that active illnesses decreased from 9,585 to 8,389 on Friday.

According to Duque, the positive rate is 1.3. The positivity rate is the proportion of people who tested positive for COVID-19 out of the total number of tested people.

Meanwhile, according to Duque, there is no need to be concerned about the BA.2.12 subvariant of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus because it has not been designated as a variety of interest or concern by the World Health Organization.

According to the Department of Health, the first incidence of Omicron BA.2.12 was discovered in Baguio City on April 2 in a 52-year-old Finnish woman who arrived from Finland.
