Newbord dies after falling from tricycle where mother gave birth

A newborn was found dead after falling from the tricycle where the baby’s mother gave birth, Raffy Tima reported on “24 Oras” on Tuesday.

The baby’s mother was rushed to the hospital, according to a neighbor, because she was already giving delivery.

“Sabi nung nanganak, ano lumabas na eh. Malayo na kami. E, walang bakas ng dugo. Sabi ko balikan natin. Yun pala lumabas na… Butas pala yung kumot eh,” Princess Reyes, the mother’s neighbor, said.

(The mother said the baby had already come out. We are far away. There is no trace of blood. So I said let’s go back. The baby has already come out. It turned out that the blanket had a hole.)

When the mother’s labor pains began, she was still at home.

The mother’s trike driver expressed concern over the situation, claiming that he was unaware that the infant had fallen off his tricycle.

“Ang takbo nasa wala pang 20, dahan dahan kasi baka maano nga yung bata, inaalalayan ko yung bata sabi lumalabas na raw,” tricycle driver Wildredo Macarage said.

(Our speed is only 20, it is slow because the child could get hurt. But the baby had already come out.)

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Malabon will investigate.

“Itu-turnover na lang sa WCPC (Women and Children Protection Center) at ang WCPC magiinterview naman sa magulang. Tapos yung emergency response ng baranggay sila ang kukuha at itu-turnover sa kamaganak,” Police Executive Master Sergeant Rene De Leon, shift supervisor, substation 2, Tugatog Malabon PNP, said.

(It will be turned over to the WCPC (Women and Children Protection Center), and the WCPC will interview the parents. After the emergency response of the barangay, they will take it and turn it over to the relatives.)

In October 2021, a baby was decapitated at birth in Abra Provincial Hospital.

According to the hospital’s officials, the baby died inside the mother’s womb, so they removed it to save the mother’s life.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported 1.53 million live births in 2020, down 8.7% from 1.67 million pre-pandemic in 2019.
