Moreno wants Lacson as corruption czar if elected as president

Presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said he would appoint fellow candidate Senator Panfilo Lacson to eradicate corruption in the government if he wins the 2022 elections.

“I think with all the problems ng ating bansa kailangan ko ng katulad ng qualities ni [I need the qualities of] Senator Ping Lacson to address corruption and discipline in the government. We will never know,” Moreno answered when asked if he would appoint a fellow candidate if he becomes the president.

“I will cross the bridge when I get there. Ayokong pangunahan kasi hindi ko mahuhulaan yung resulta ng eleksyon [I don’t want to get ahead of myself because I can’t guess the results of the election],” he added.

Mayor Isko Moreno said he and his vice president, Dr. Willie Ong vowed to devote two years of their term to creating livelihood.

“Alam mo isa sa pinakamaganda talaga ang labanan ang korupsyon. Sa dami ng proproblemahin ng pangulo ng bansa sa kabuhayan, kasi nagcommit na kami sa taong bayan na in the next two years of six years ang focus namin ni Dr. Willie buhay at kabuhayan,” he said.

(You know, one of the best things to fight is corruption. We will already face many problems regarding livelihood as president because Dr. Willie and I committed two years of six years to livelihood and lives.)

According to his profile in the Senate, Lacson is “an untiring, tenacious watchdog of the national budget, making sure dubious congressional insertions (a.k.a. pork barrel) and useless appropriations are checked and deleted during plenary debates.”

“His continuous fight against corruption, including pork barrel in all its iterations, earned him the degree of Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa, from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila in March 2019,” it added.

During his term as PNP Chief, Lacson led by example as he instituted a no-take policy and a fitness program while cleansing the police force of “scalawags in uniform” (a.k.a. kotong cops) – initiatives that earned the PNP the highest public approval ratings in its history.

Lacson vowed “Aayusin ang Gobyerno, Aayusin ang Buhay ng Bawat Pilipino” and “Uubusin ang Magnanakaw” on his campaign to be the next president of the Philippines.
