Missing Cessna plane found in Isabela; 6 passengers killed in crash

The missing Cessna plane has been seen since January 24, 2023, and is believed to have crashed in the mountains of Isabela. According to the Isabela Incident Management Team, none of the six aboard the plane survived.

According to Atty. Constante Foronda, head of the management team, the crashed plane that was found is the missing Cessna C206 plane RPC 1174.

“As soon as possible ibaba po natin yung mga labi ng mga pasahero, kumukuha na po kami ng clearance mula sa mga crime labs and sa Scene of the Crime Operatives,” said Foronda.

Engr Ezikiel Chavez of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer (MDRRMO) of Divilacan, Isabela, said that parts of the plane were scattered in the area where it crashed.

Clothes were also seen hanging from trees that were believed to be the clothes of those on board the plane.

“Una nilang nakita is bangko ng eroplano and then watak-watak daw po yung mga parts kasi pati mga damit po is nakasabit sa mga puno,” he said.

One of the corpses is said to be headless.

Foronda said it could take three days to retrieve the remains.

The area where the plane crashed will be secured for an investigation by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to find out why the plane crashed.

It was around 2:15 pm on January 24 when the plane took off from Cauayan Airport, bound for the town of Maconacon. The pilot and five passengers were on board.

The pilot last communicated with air traffic controllers at 2:19 p.m. in Naguilian. The plane was expected to arrive in Maconacon at 2:45 p.m. when it suddenly disappeared.

Last month, none of the four aboard the  airplane that crashed near the crater of Mayon Volcano in Bicol survived, according to the mayor of Camalig, Albay.

 said the Bicol International Airport air  controllers lost contact with the Cessna 340 airplane carrying a pilot, a crew member, and two foreign passengers who are the power firm Energy Development Corporation (EDC) consultants.
