Metro Manila targets vaccinating the eligible population during a 2-week enhanced community quarantine in the region, which will begin on Friday.

According to the Metro Manila Council, 45 percent or almost half of the cities population is expected to be fully vaccinated after the ECQ period.

Only 36 percent of Metro Manila’s adult population was fully vaccinated as of August 1.

“Kung mangyayari ‘yon na protektado ang Metro Manila, mapoproteksiyunan na rin natin ang buong bansa dahil karamihan ng mga galing sa airport dito sa Metro tapos nag-uuwian sa probinsiya,” said Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benhur Abalos.

“They have to inform their barangay chairmen na pupunta sila sa vaccination sites para po payagan sila na lumabas,” said Pangan.

“Hindi na po sila kailangan makatanggap ng text message. Same procedure sa ginagawa natin ngayon. Lahat ng pupunta sa vaccination sites kailangan pre-registered at may QR code,” he added.

Navotas will not accept walk-ins at vaccination sites for now, according to Mayor Toby Tiangco.

Navotas can vaccinate 5,000 to 8,000 people per day.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 spokesperson Restituto Padillla Jr. assured that there is provision for the planned injection of 4 million doses of COVID-19 in Metro Manila amid the lockdown.

The vaccines came from those delivered by Sinovac vaccines last week, and more than 3 million Moderna vaccines will arrive in the Philippines this Tuesday.

“May nakalaan na ‘yan, naka-ready na. It will be coming from the current inventory of Sinovac and the arriving Moderna vaccines,” said Padilla.

Based on the Department of Health (DOH) data, the National Capital Region () and NCR Plus – which includes Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal – showed a rapid increase in cases.

NCR, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley region, and Central Visayas are also in the “high risk” classification.

The DOH also admitted that in some regions of the country, the impact of the Delta variant is felt.

In fact, of the 36 areas monitored by the DOH due to the “moderate” to “high risk” classification, 8 were detected local cases of the more contagious Delta variant.
