Metro Manila LGUs issue quarantine passes before ECQ

With the imminent implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on Friday, various cities have already started issuing quarantine passes.

Tighter protocols can be expected once the ECQ takes effect on Friday, according to the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety.

In Barangay Claro in QC, many have applied for a quarantine pass, but many have also been rejected.

“Manghingi sana ko kung lalabas. Mga pamangkin ko may trabaho din. Magpasabay na lang daw ako kung sino meron,” said Consolacion Basco.

The barangay plans to assign personnel who can be ordered by those who cannot leave the house.

In Barangay E Rodriguez, the vaccination card is included in the list of requirements to obtain a quarantine pass.

But the system in Barangay Holy Spirit is different. The barangay staff will go from house to house to distribute quarantine passes. Only one pass will be issued per home.

Meanwhile, in San Juan City, Mayor Francis Zamora clarified that a quarantine pass is not required for authorized persons outside residence (APOR).

In Pasay City, quarantine passes will be issued.

The city has also released a schedule for shoppers in the market. The days when residents can buy at the Pasay Public Market are divided into barangays,

The Department of the Interior and Local Government said they would now be more stringent on people’s movements.

Meanwhile, vaccine czar Secretary  Jr. reported Wednesday that the Philippine government had administered more than 21 million doses of COVID-19  as of August 3, 2021,

“We would like to present to Congress the good news that the Philippines has already administered 21,883,781 doses of various vaccines, 12,058,315 have taken the first dose while 9,825,466 Filipinos are now full vaccinated,” Galvez said during the House committee on  briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Galvez noted the government already vaccinated 13.87% of the eligible population or individuals aged 18 years old and above and 8.85% of the total Philippine population.

He also noted the “significant” increase in the daily average  with 529, doses inoculated from July 28 to August 03.
