On February 23, the 17 mayors of Metro Manila recommended that the said region be placed on Alert Level 1.
Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III had earlier said that the NCR was “ripe” to put Manila under the laxest COVID-19 restrictions.
Under Alert Level 1, all activities and establishments will be allowed at 100% capacity, but minimum public health standards will still be required.
Despite this, residents in the areas mentioned earlier will still be required to comply with minimum public health standards such as following physical distancing and wearing face masks.
63 million Pinoys vaccinated vs COVID-19
The COVID-19 vaccine is complete for about 63 million Filipinos, according to the Department of Health.
DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje announced that the said number is 70 percent of the target of 90 million to be vaccinated.
“As of Feb. 25, we now have a total of 63 million fully vaccinated. So, that is 70 percent of our target of 90 million, ”Cabotaje said.
About 300,000 to 500,000 people are vaccinated every day, and other strategies still need to be developed to increase the number of people vaccinated every day.
Cabotaje also revealed that the National Capital Region still recorded the highest number of vaccinations, followed by the provinces in Region I, Region II, and areas in Cordillera, Region III, Region IV-A, and Western Visayas.
He said the focus is on the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen, and Central Visayas.
