Mega vaccination site in Nayong Pilipino opens

The newly opened mega vaccination site in Bagong Nayong Pilipino in Parañaque city targets to vaccinate 15,000 people per day.

On Thursday, the operation of the said site was formally opened.

The vaccination period will take 20 to 30 minutes from registration to 15 minutes of observation, based on the observations of the National Task Force against COVID-19 chief implementor Sec Carlito Galvez Jr., who inspected the site.

There are 30 drive-through booths initially opened for registered motorists. In addition, the vaccination hub on New Seaside Drive will serve the people of Metro Manila and neighboring provinces.

In the first week of the operation, only Parañaque residents and workers can be vaccinated in the area, according to city health officer Dr. Olga Retucio, while adjusting the method of registration of foreigners.

Vaccine recipients must bring their QR code to display on the site, along with their valid ID. There is parking for post-vaccine observation.

There are also golf carts for the careless who also schedule to get vaccinated in the area. Just visit the social media account or the Parañaque website (https://paranaquecity.gov.ph/) to access the link for registration.

Eight (8) ambulatory centers in Bagong Nayon Pilipino are set to open in the coming days.

International Container Terminal Services Inc., who spearheaded the construction of the vaccination hub, confirmed that no trees were cut down in the area to build the vaccination site.

This is after there has been controversy in recent months over alleged violations of environmental laws behind the construction of the vaccination site.

But the management of the private company that mainly built the vaccination site insisted that this was not true.

In May, Malacañang said mega vaccination site at the Nayong Pilipino Foundation property in Parañaque City would be temporary.

“Iyong itatayo po doon sa Nayong Pilipino, ano po iyan, makeshift. Hindi po iyan permanente. Parang mga tents lang din po iyan, parang iyong ginawa rin na mga tent facilities para magamit na COVID  facility diyan po sa Nayong Pilipino na lupain din sa reclamation area,”  said when asked about the practicality of the project since there are existing spacious stadiums in the country.
