Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said Monday he is currently under quarantine after his driver tested positive and died of COVID-19.
The mayor said he took RT-PCR test over the weekend and immediately went to isolation.
“Kasalukuyang ako ay naka-quarantine. Nag-COVID-19 test na ako kahapon bilang ako po ay isang close contact. Strictly susunod tayo sa protocols natin. Hindi muna ako makakapasok sa trabaho at kinacancel ko muna ang appointment o meeting. Kung maaari ay i-Zoom, Viber, text, and phone call muna ang pagtatrabaho,” he said in a Facebook Live.
(I am currently in quarantine. I took the COVID-19 test yesterday as I am a close contact. We strictly follow our protocols. I can’t go to work first and I cancel the appointment or meeting first. If possible, Zoom, Viber, text, and phone call will work for now.)
Mayor Vico Sotto said he last saw his driver on March 10 before the latter was brought to the hospital. The driver died on March 12.
“Nung nakaraang Biyernes ay nawalan tayo ng isang matalik na kaibigan dahil sa COVID-19, siya ‘yung driver ko kaya talagang close contact ako bagama’t sumusunod naman ako sa health protocols,” he said.
(Last Friday, we lost a close friend because of COVID-19, he is my driver so I am really a close contact even though I follow health protocols.)

“Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilya ni Kuya Vener, sa mga kaibigan. Wednesday kami huling nagkita bago siya isinugod sa ospital,” Vico Sotto added.

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said he tested positive for COVID-19, Monday, March 15.
According to Roque, he was tested twice for the virus recently. He said he tested negative on March 10, the night he had a trip with President Rodrigo Duterte.
He said he took another test on Sunday because he was supposed to meet Duterte on Monday.
“Dito po lumabas na tayo ay positibo,” he said in a press briefing. “Iyong nagkaroon po sa akin ng close contact, I ask you po for your indulgence, pero kinakailangan po kayong mag-quarantine,” he said.
