Manny Villar remains the richest Filipino – Forbes list

According to Forbes World’s Billionaires List for 2022, business mogul and former politician Manny Villar retained his position as the country’s wealthiest person.

Villar is joined on the elite list by 19 other Filipinos, up from 17 last year.

According to Forbes, Manny Villar’s projected net worth increased to $8.3 billion this year, more than $1 billion more than his stated total assets of $7.2 billion in 2021.

The real estate mogul is now rated 263rd among worldwide billionaires, a significant increase from his previous ranking of 352 last year.

Manny Villar is the founder and CEO of Vista Land & Lifescapes, a real estate and retail development company. He is also the chairman of VistaMall, a mall operator.

Manny Villar was followed by Ports magnate Enrique Razon Jr, who has a net worth of $6.7 billion and is ranked 369th globally.

With $2.8 billion in total assets, Henry Sy Jr, co-vice chairman of SM Investments, came in third. However, he was ranked 1096th in the world.

A Chinese Filipino millionaire, Andrew Tan, is ranked fourth with a net worth of $2.8 billion. Currently, he serves as the chairman of Alliance Global, a holding company with holdings in food and beverage, gambling, and real estate.

On the other hand, Hans Sy and Herbert Sy tied for fifth place with a combined net worth of $2.6 billion. They were followed by their siblings, Harley Sy and Harley Sy, who both had $2.4 billion in assets.

Elizabeth Sy, another Sy successor, is ranked ninth with a net worth of $2.1 billion.

Ramon S. Ang, president, and CEO of San Miguel Corp., is the tenth richest Filipino, with a net worth of $2 billion.

  • 2,578 – Roberto Ongpin, $1 billion
  • 2,578 – Dennis Anthony Uy, $1 billion

Ang, Grace Uy, the Genomals, and Dennis Anthony Uy are newcomers to the list.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, was crowned the world’s richest man for the first time after dethroning Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. His net worth is believed to be $219 billion.

According to Forbes, there are 2,668 billionaires in the world right now, down from 2755 in 2021. Their aggregate assets decreased marginally from $13.1 trillion to $12.7 trillion last year. Moreover, there are just 236 newbies among the figures, compared to 493 in 2021.
