Fourteen Filipinos have made it to Forbes’ Billionaires List 2023, with Manuel “Manny” Villar Jr. leading the pack once again.

As of April 4, 2023, Forbes estimated Villar’s real-time net worth at $9 billion, ranking him as the 215th richest person in the world. The publication attributed Villar’s success to his stake in Golden MV Holdings, which is behind the development of mass housing projects and memorial parks. He also chairs Vista Land & Lifescapes, which listed its real estate investment trust (REIT) on the Philippine Stock Exchange last June.

Interestingly, Villar’s family is also involved in politics. His wife Cynthia and son Mark currently hold positions as senators, while his daughter Camille serves as a member of the Philippine Congress representing Las Piñas City. With such an impressive track record, it’s no surprise that Manny Villar remains one of the most respected and admired personalities in the Philippines.

Villar is the richest Filipino on Forbes’ list for the fifth straight year, following Henry Sy Sr.’s passing in 2019.
