Manny Pacquiao announces possible rematch vs. Floyd Mayweather in 2024

There is a big fight to look forward to this 2024 with the People’s Champ, Manny Pacquiao, which will be held in Japan.

Pacquiao and Rizin Fighting Federation executive Nobuyuki Sakakibara announced this Sunday, that the rematch between the Pinoy boxing legend and Mayweather may take place this year.

Pacquiao was a guest and spoke to the people who attended the Rizin 45 event this Sunday, December 31, at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.

“Thank you so much for inviting me here again. I’m sorry for the last time that we promised that I’m going to fight this year [2023]. But as Sakakibara-san explained… next year [2024]. I hope to see you in Japan again in a big fight,” said Pacquiao looking at Sakakibara.

Sakakibara himself mentioned Mayweather’s name.

“I thought you didn’t want me to say that. But I’m excited for that. Thank you for always supporting Rizin and all his promotions,” the Pinoy boxer said with a smile.

In December 2022, Pacquiao said that he signed an agreement to fight in the Japanese MMA promotion in 2023. By February 2023, it was announced that pro wrestler Kota Ibushi would be Pacquiao’s possible opponent in Rzin, but the fight did not go ahead.

It was also reported that Pacquiao may face Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek in an exhibition fight in boxing.

Pacquiao and Mayweather fought for the first time in 2015, with the American fighter winning via unanimous decision.

2 dead due to fireworks, hit by stray bullets

Two people were killed due to firecrackers and a stray bullet hit during the celebration of welcoming the new year, according to information from the Philippine National Police (PNP) this Monday.

In the report released by the PNP yesterday at 6 a.m., it was stated that 509 people were injured due to firecrackers, and one person was also injured due to a stray bullet hit.

According to the Department of Health, there are 116 new victims of fireworks brought to hospitals from 6 a.m. of December 31, 2023 until 5:59 a.m. of January 1, 2024.

One person was also injured due to gunfire.

The PNP recorded 13 incidents of illegal discharge of firearms. 13 suspects were arrested, and eight guns were confiscated.

In Zamboanga this Sunday, a drunk policeman fired a gun behind their sleeping place.
