The two water concessionaires also said the water level of Angat Dam decreased despite the typhoons in the previous weeks. Angat Dam is Metro Manila’s primary source of water.

Manila Water and Maynilad said the water interruption is a must so that the water supply would last until the summer and rest of 2020.

Manila water said Angat Dam’s current level is 186.22 meters, 23.78 to 25.78 meters short of its target of 210 to 212 meters by the end of 2019.

The two water suppliers reminded their customers to participate in the responsible use of limited water supply.

Maynilad said it is currently working on ways to mitigate the impact of limited water supply such as water treatment and storage facilities, activation of deep wells, supply and pressure management, and the addition of a mobile treatment plant.

The water companies also advised the public to make sure the reserved water clean and covered.

Manila Water and Maynilad apologized for the inconvenience and thanked the consumers for understanding.
