Manila offers drive-thru installation of RFID stickers

The local government of Manila City offers a drive-thru service for the installation of RFID stickers to help motorists comply with the national government’s implementation of a 100% cashless tollways payment scheme.

The Manila Mayor said the two-day installation of RFID stickers would be from October 31 to November 1, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is for Class 1 vehicles, including cars, SUVs, and passenger vans.

“No documents needed, pumunta lang kayo dito, Sabado at Linggo.

The Department of Transportation () has moved the implementation of mandatory cashless toll collections from November 2 to December 1, 2020, giving motorists a longer time to install  stickers.

“Answering the clamor of motorists, who have yet to attach RFID stickers on their vehicles, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has decided to push the start of the mandatory implementation of cashless toll collections on toll roads from November 2 to December 1,” DOTr said in a statement.

However, DOTR said the deadline on the 100 percent of electronic payment systems in expressways would no longer be extended beyond December 1.

“Secretary Tugade allowed the extension in order to give motorists, especially infrequent toll road users, more time to comply with the department order, and to prevent the long queues currently being experienced at toll roads in the rush to get the RFID stickers. But, mind you, this will be the last time that we will be extending. No more extension beyond December 1,” Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) Executive Director Abraham Sales said.
