The white dog was perched on a tree near the flooded house. It will soon be swept away by the floodwaters.

Juneczar Sancho swam it quickly. Then, he climbed to the house’s roof to save the tied dog.

Juneczar said he felt sorry for the dog, so he did not hesitate to rescue it. He talked to the dog so it would calm down.

Juneczar cut the dog’s leash and placed it on the house’s roof to keep it from being swept away by the floodwaters. Juneczar was unable to cross the dog to the other building, where he took refuge due to the strong current of the floodwater. They will wait for the water to subside before coming back to get the dog.

According to the videographer Bernie, they saw another dog in the house, but it was swept away by the flood. It is possible the dogs were left behind by the homeowner’s evacuation.

Currently, the flood water level in the area is still high because the rain caused by Typhoon Odette continues.

Man stranded in flood rescued after nearly 5 hours

It took almost five hours to save 50-year-old Roberto Janubas in Sitio Alog, Lower Jasaan, Misamis Oriental, Thursday afternoon.

Rescuers from the Jasaan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Jasaan Municipal Police Station, and residents pulled Janubas to the river bank stranded in a small hut.

He went to the hut because the flood washed away his residence. Typhoon Odette brought heavy rains, so the water overflowed from the neighboring Cabulig River.

The rescue team tried several times to approach Janubas but failed due to the force of the flood.

It was 6 pm when Janubas was rescued.

He first took refuge in the evacuation center at Jasaan Central School.
