A man is arrested after allegedly stealing P10 million from a victim for a piggery business that turned out to be an investment scam.
In a report by John Consulta on 24 Oras Weekend this Saturday, it can be seen that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Anti-Fraud Division arrested the suspect identified as Aldrin Oleta after accepting the marked money.
The P100,000 he received from the person he was supposed to victimize was obtained from Oleta.
The NBI said that someone approached them as a victim of the suspect’s investment scam, who was promised huge profits if they invested in the piggery business.
“Kailangan niyang mag-invest ng pera para sa kanilang piggery business at ang magiging hatian ay 30-70. Lumalabas na scam lang pala ang lahat ng ginawa ng suspek sa ating complainant,” said Atty. Gisele Garcia-Dumlao, NBI spokesperson.
“Meron siyang tseke na ii-issue sa iyo as a guarantee na hindi ka niya maloloko. Pero ano ang nangyari? Nawala rin lahat,” said the complainant “Rina,” not her real name.
“Wala talaga sir na baboy. As in pumunta ako roon sa location, walang baboy. Sobrang sakit po kasi ‘yung insurance na nakuha ko nang mamatay ang father ko, napunta sa kaniya,” added Rina.
Oleta is facing a complaint of estafa and a violation of the Securities Regulation Code.
The perpetrator refused to give a statement.

Well-known motorcycle rider Jireh Edrote dies in an accident in Misamis Oriental
A well-known motorcycle rider from Cagayan de Oro City died after an accident while riding his motorcycle this Saturday morning in Misamis Oriental.
The victim was identified as Jireh Edrote y Morales, 29 years old.
The accident happened around two o’clock in the morning.
According to a report from the Lugait Police Station, the victim came from Iligan City, where he participated in an endurance challenge contest going to Davao City.
But in an unexpected event, the wheel of his motorcycle suddenly slipped and crashed into the wall of the canal near Purok Rizal, Barangay Poblacion, Lugait, Misamis Oriental.
The victim was taken to the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital-Manticao but was declared dead on arrival due to the injuries he sustained.
