“The total backlogs as of May 2 stands at 234,149 pieces” said Tugade.

The procurement process of the Department of Transportation continues according to Tugade.

According to Tugade, the first schedule of the driver’s license card will be done within 60 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

According to Tugade, some of the steps taken by the LTO are the re-allocation of available supplies of driver’s license cards.

“Nag-forecasting po kami ang inadjust po namin ang mga on hand inventory ng iba-ibang offices po namin,” said Tugade.

According to Tugade, the second thing the LTO did was to authorize the use of a temporary driver’s license or the OR printed on paper as a temporary driver’s license.

Tugade said they met with some law enforcement officers and LTO deputized agents on their steps.

Another thing that was done was the extension of the validity of the driver’s license that expired from April 24, 2023, to October 31, 2023 or within six months.

According to Tugade, to fill driver’s license backlogs, the LTO will set up a temporary off-site printing office to print the driver’s license backlogs.

The LTO Licensing Centers are also open from Saturday to Sunday to accommodate backlogs while their staff have compulsory overtime.

Meanwhile, 1-Rider Party List Rep Bonifacio Bosita is concerned about the use of paper as a temporary driver’s license by motorists.

In this regard, Congressman Bosita requested that the DILG issue a memo to the LGUs for the enforcers to follow.
