Lolo Narding posted bail through help of Asingan PNP

Lolo Narding, the 80-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly stealing around 10 kilograms of mangoes from a neighbor in Asingan, Pangasinan was able to post bail today, a police officer said.

“Kagabi tumawag sa amin isa sa mga judge at nakikoordinate na tayo sa chief of clerk na to fast track his bail, his temporary liberty,” Police Major Napoleon M. Eleccion said during a Facebook live video.

According to Pangasinan PNP spokesperson Lt. Col. Ferdinand de Asis, members of the Asingan PNP chipped in for “Lolo Narding” Floro’s bail worth P6,000.

However, Floro remains in police custody since his release paper has yet to be signed due to the implementation of Alert Level 3. Eleccion said a judge will sign Floro’s release paper today to grant him temporary liberty.

Meanwhile, Lolo Narding got numerous help from concerned citizens following his arrest and detention.

Eleccion also clarified that the grandfather did not steal mangoes from his neighbor but simply picked them.

“Namitas lang po ng mangga dahil ang kinaclaim ni tatay yung kabataan niya, siya ang nagtanim. So itong may ari naman ng lupa, kinaclaim niya yung lupa sa kanya, pati na rin yung mangga, which is si tatay naman tinitignan niya mula pagkabata. ’Di naman totally nagnakaw si tatay, namitas lang,” he said.

(He just picked mangoes because he claimed he planted them when he was younger. So the owner of the land claims the land and the mango. The old man has been taking care of the tree since childhood. He didn’t totally steal, he just picked up.)

Lolo Narding said that he just wanted to settle the case and said he also tried to pay the value of the mangoes.

“Ti kayat ko kuma ke areglo kuman, dadiay met batet met nga banag. Idi ited ko iti bayad na di na kayat nga awaten, ti imbaga na bayadak kano ti sais mil,” the elderly said.

(I would have liked to settle. It’s just a small thing. When I gave the payment, they didn’t want to accept it. They said I would pay P6,000.)
