Laguna hazing victim RR Rabutazo dies of bleeding, head trauma

RR Rabutazo, an eighteen-year-old Tau Gamma Phi neophyte, died of a subdural hemorrhage after being struck in the head by a blunt object during initiation procedures in Kalayaan, Laguna, on Sunday.

The medico-legal assessment revealed that the Grade 12 student experienced subdural hemorrhage due to blunt head trauma, according to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras.”

Rabutazo completed the initiation ceremonies at 9 a.m., according to a fellow neophyte. On Sunday, he passed out when he tried to stand up 30 minutes later. Members attempted to resuscitate him, but he died hours afterward.

This arose after one of the group’s officials surrendered to Kalayaan police on Wednesday.

Kevin Perez, 22, refused to say whether or not he was the master initiator or remark on the incident.

Since RR Rabutazo and the others are from Bgy, police Lieutenant Erico Bestid Jr. said they are still perplexed as to why the initiation took place in Barangay San Juan. Longos.

Students and out-of-school youths were also involved, according to Bestid.

“Kung may mga initiation na ganyan mag-coordinate sila by barangay. Taga longos po sila at Bgy. San Juan ang pinangyarihan. Doon pa lang parang may makikita ka nang pagkukulang o something to make it secret ‘yung initiation,” he said.

(If there are initiations like that, they’ll coordinate by barangay; they’re from Bgy. Longos, and it happened in Bgy. San Juan; from there, you’ll notice that something isn’t quite right or that the initiation is being kept hidden.)

According to a medicolegal investigation, RR Rabutazo died of subdural hemorrhage as a result of traumatic head trauma.

According to the victim’s father, Remil Rabutazo, at least 23 fraternity members were present during the hazing procedures, some of whom were their relatives.

The victim’s mother, Maricar, criticized the hazing and begged the other suspects to come forward.

Meanwhile, Kebry Gallero, Paolo Lakawkaw, Leo Zandro Duko, Wilson Maestrado, John del Ponce, and Kris Jairo Kabiskwelas are still on the run.

Authorities apprehended Reyvince Espaldon and Venzon Benedict Lacaocao on Tuesday. They were charged with homicide and anti-hazing violations.
