Kurt Teves apologizes to security guard, resigns as board member

Kurt Teves, son of Representative Arnolfo Teves Jr., apologized and resigned as Board Member of Negros Oriental. He recently assaulted a security guard of a subdivision in Paranaque City.

At a news conference attended by several relatives and supporters, Kurt Teves apologized to security guard Jomar Pajares.

“What happened is already done. Whatever the exchange of words was, I was wrong to lay my hands on him. For that, I offer my sincerest apologies. Apologies to all of you, here and to the other party concerned. This incident is entirely on me. No one else,” said Kurt Teves.

“Having said that I must respectfully resign from my office as a public official while I face this problem and give time to reflect on my own personal as well,” he added.

He also asked for the understanding of his supporters and promised to do everything to be a “better person and leader.”

The trouble took root when Pajares did not allow Kurt Teves to enter the subdivision because his vehicle did not have a “sticker.”

Kurt insisted that they live in the subdivision. But Pajares implemented such an association policy.

Axl Teves, Kurt’s brother, had earlier apologized for the incident.

“Hihingi po kami ng patawad sa lahat ng pagkakamali ng brother ko. ‘Yung brother ko po mismo kakausap sayo. Sasamahan ko. I understand natatakot ka dahil naging malaking issue na ito pero in behalf of my family and my brother Kurt I want you to know na willing na willing kami na kumausap sayo nang maayos kung saan mo gusto. Isama po ko kung sino ka comfortable,” Axl Teves said.

According to the BF Federation of Homeowners Associations Inc. (BFFHAI), a good step was taken on the part of the Teves, but they first want to file a complaint against Kurt because of what happened to Pajares.

“Magandang move sa kanila kung ipapakita nilang yung ganoon. Syempre sa ngayon kasi masyado pa yung ating guwardiya, traumatized sya. So siguro some other time, hindi pa ngayon,” according to Atty. Delfin Supapo Jr., BFFHAI chairman of the legal committee.
