Jung was arrested on the strength of a Warrant of Deportation issued in October against him, for being an undocumented alien and a risk to public safety and security.

“The office received information of his crimes from South Korean authorities,” said Morente. “Upon receipt of the information, we immediately filed a charge against him and conducted an investigation to locate and arrest him,” he added.

BI Fugitive Search Unit Chief Rendel Sy shared that Jung has an outstanding warrant of arrest issued by the Seoul Central District Court in November 2018 for promoting and circulating pornography, and other related crimes under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Korea. He fled to the Philippines in July 2018 to evade his conviction and arrest.

His passport has reportedly been cancelled already by the Korean government, making him an undocumented alien.

Jung was said to be responsible for working with a Korean convict in the distribution of over 7,400 obscene videos via internet file sharing websites, allowing access to pornographic materials to thousands of online users.

He will be temporarily held at the BI Warden Facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending the implementation of his deportation.

Last month, a Somalian and a South Korean detained at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Warden Facility (WF) face more jail time after being caught smuggling illegal substances in the detention center.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente ordered the filing of criminal charges against Ali Osman Mohamed, 37, and Nam Sangmin, 42, who attempted to smuggle and distribute suspected methamphetamine inside the facility.

The two reportedly attempted to pass the drug to each other by placing it inside cigarettes.

Gomez suspects that the drug was smuggled inside food and supplies given by the detainee’s visitors.
