It is a standard operating procedure for those who surrender or are killed rebels to undergo the RT-PCR test not to infect the soldiers.

Being positive, the remains of the two were immediately cremated Tuesday night.

The military released a copy of the result of the RT-PCR test and certification of cremation.

4th Infantry Division Commander MGen Romeo Brawner Jr. said the decision to cremate was an IATF decision and was based on existing COVID-19 protocols.

Ka Oris tested positive for COVID-19; remains cremated

“The 4ID thru the 403rd Infantry Brigade has already turned-over the remains of the CTG leader and member to the CIDG and LGU of Impasugong, after both terrorists were found COVID-19 positive based on the Reverse Transcription – Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) results released yesterday by the Philippine National Red Cross. They are the responsible agencies for the proper disposition of the remains in accordance with the COVID protocols and guidelines. Other forthcoming actions depends on the decision of the LGU,” Brawner added.

The military denied that an ambush caused Madlos’ death.

In a statement, the National Democratic Front said they allegedly ambushed Madlos on the night of October 29 while on his way to Impasugong town for medical treatment.

According to the military, Ka Oris was the most wanted NPA commander in the Philippines with multiple criminal cases, such as robbery with double homicide and damage to properties.

“I am reiterating our call for peace. Magbalik-loob na kayo sa mapayapang pamumuhay and avail of the E-CLIP. We will ensure your safety, and we will guide you towards a peaceful life. So that you will not suffer the same fate as Ka Oris,” Brawner said.
